Yesterday’s crunch tie between Arsenal and Man City was a feisty affair with its fair share of thrills, spills and drama. But during the game we completely missed what will end up being one of our moments of the season. It involved Manchester City’s Belgian wunderkind Kevin De Bruyne, a corner flag and not an ounce of concentration.
De Bruyne and The Worst Corner Ever
The £54m summer signing from Wolfsburg has begun this campaign really well, but he will definitely look back at this moment with his face in his hands. Let’s take a step back and think about exactly what the Belgian has achieved since switching to Citeh. In his 17 games so far for The Blues he’s already got 9 goals and 6 assists, which has gone a long way to proving his worth.
However, back to the story at hand. With his team trailing 2-0 at the Emirates, De Bruyne was asked to focus more on his attacking duties. After his team had won a corner, he stepped up to take it. He placed the ball down in the corner flag quadrant. He goes to swing his leg and then…what’s that?

Well, the only other set piece of recent years that comes close involved Kaisuke Honda of AC Milan. But thankfully for him that was just a pre-season friendly. Take a look below.
So, there you have it folks. That’s the story of the worst corner ever taken. Have you got another in mind that’s worse? If so, just let us know in the comments section below.
